land of the living (yeast)

Sorry this blog has been inactive for a while as I have been in Cuba researching a new book, and some beer stories to follow. But right now in Germany's would-be beer capital much enjoying the resurgence in cloudy, unfiltered beer: Thomas Zwickl from Paulaner, only available at the original Paulaner Bräuhaus on Kapuziner Platz, also the excellent Unionsbräu from brew-beerhall of same name on Einsteinstrasse in Haidhausen, just over the Isar (U-bahn Max-Weber Platz).
An excursion to Andechs monastery near the Ammersee lake also was a delight to taste the monks' cracking Helles and Urbock. Also, for the ladies, un unusual apple wheat beer.
